Acts 20:35

Acts 20:35

I have showed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

One of Paul’s biggest concerns was helping the poor saints at Jerusalem.  He also made it very clear that it was important to give to the ministry.  Paul never told anyone how much they should give or that they should tithe under the law, mainly because we are not under the law but under grace.  Paul wants us to give for two reasons; first to help those that need it, which at that time were the believers in Jerusalem that sold all that they had.  The next is Paul tells us that we ought to help and feed those who feed us, or in other words minister in carnal things (money) to those that minister to us in spiritual things (teaching the word).  Giving to the ministry is a good work that we do as saints and we receive a blessing when doing so as the Lord said “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Rejoicing in Grace,

Keith
